CLEP Is Not for Ordinary Student
CLEP exams offer a quick, cheap way to earn college credit. Thousands of students have taken advantage of CLEPs, saving untold amounts of time and money. But they’re are not for everyone.
Successful CLEP takers should have the following knowledge:
- Knowledge of the subject- CLEP test takers should know their subject before they goin to take their test. This should either consist of knowledge a student has gained from work, or some other non-classroom learning, or else knowledge gained specifically to be able to take the CLEP test. Either way, a successful exam taker should know the subject.
- Knowledge of test taking techniques- CLEP exams are made up from a large question base, and cover a lot of material. Because of this, even if a test taker has a broad knowledge of the subject he’s testing on, there will still be a lot of material on the test that the student will not know. For these questions the student should be able to apply smart test taking techniques to narrow down answer choices to increase their chances of guessing correctly.
If a student does not know the subject, or does not know how to test properly, than maybe a CLEP isn’t the best option. However, if a student has knowledge of the subject, and knows some test taking tricks, than there is nothing to lose. CLEPs have such a great potential for time and money savings that it is worth trying.
